St. Viateur Bagel

So, I heard alot about the St. Viateur and Fairmount Bagels hence I went to look around montreal for them. They are said to make lighter bagels compared to New York bagels and people would buy bags home. I tried both the Fairmount and St. Viateur Bagels, both on the same day. I really preferred the St. Viateur Bagel over the Fairmount one, evidently, cos there are no photos of the fairmount bagels. I found the Fairmount Bagels a tad bit hard and and heavy.

They are not difficult to look for but the walk from the nearest subway station, Station Laurier. There might be a simpler way to get there I don't know, but bus maps are difficult to read in Montreal. So so confusing, there's the route, and the bus timings. And not all buses run on all days. x.x

Very simple bagel bakery

There's nothing fancy about this place, very simple. You walk in, there's a counter where you can buy bagels and the other add ons (Jam, cream cheese, smoked salmon etc.) to create your own 'bagelwich' (Did I just invent that word? o.O).

So, while taking photos outside, a man exited the shop carrying a 2 huge bags of bagels the height of his torso, placed it in his trunk and went back in to take another 3. :O 5 bags of bagels. People indeed do 'dabao' (takeaway) quite alot.

Bet that's all flour :O Carbs carbs carbs..
Do you know? I read several articles which said that if you eat Bagels in the morning you tend to eat more the rest of the day? I think its not specific to bagels. I guess, if you eat too much carbs for breakfast, it kinda sets the benchmark for the food intake all day. So its always good to cut down on the amount of carbs for breakfast. But, I'm travelling.. So I'm excused! Oh, and this was right after a heavy breakfast at the hostel.

Bagel Making in Progress

Bagel for 80cents
As we ordered the bagels, a group of school boys entered in their uniforms :O. so thankful we ordered right before they came in! Seems like this bagel shop is popular amongst people of all ages. :)

Georgina and the bagels :)

Omnomnoms :)

They have a full range of flavours, check here. I got several savoury and some sweet ones but my favourite is the Cinnamon and Raisin one because of those plump raisins embedded in the flour :) From their webbie, I realised they have food trucks! Guess it would be fun eating from their food truck during summer :) Oh and they do delivery too, all the way to the US :)
