So this is the Museum that the Movie Night at the Museum was set in. Unlike in the movie, the T-Rex isn't displayed in the main lobby! Its this Brontosaurus, what I remember from my childhood as being Little Foot :)) Ah. Anyway what happened to all these classic cartoons? They seemed to be much higher in standard compared to some cartoons they show nowadays.
Mascots at the Natural History Museum
The really long queue over there is the queue for free admission into the museum. If you buy tickets into the museum from the ekiosk right behind where I was standing, you'd skip the queue and get admitted into the museum without having to wait. You'd have to pay the standard fee though but if you're here that early in the morning, there's no harm joining the queue.
It was tricky though, using that machine because we needed to buy admission into special exhibits and those exhibits had timings which we needed to choose from. So plan well! We went for 3 shows/exhibits/presentations hourly back to back and it wasn't easy getting from location to location in a short period of time, especially so with the crowd. My advise is to have at least 2 hours between each show so you can explore the galleries near it before jumping to another part of the AMNH.
Brontosaurus!
Rexy!
I guess this should be the T-Rex which was the one featured in the main hall in the show Night at the museum haha.
Another one of Rex-y with filter :)
They have these exhibits have such life-like scenes it hardly looks man-made. The following are taken with panorama mode cos the exhibits were too long.
Poison Show
This wasn't exactly a show it was an entire exhibition all together. There was a short film in the beginning, then along the way were some exhibits and interesting facts/history of poison along the way then it ended with a presentation by a Chemist which was very intriguing for both kids and adults.
Oh yes. One thing i noticed. A guy behind me who didn't have the ticket asked if he can enter, so this entrance also sells tickets and sold him one. I don't remember the exact amount but I seem to remember it was much more expensive than the price I paid while using the e-kiosk. Perhaps its because I paid the admission fee, or because I'm watching 2 other shows and was offered the package price which was cheaper. I'm not too sure about this but it will be good to find out if you're planning to enter special exhibits.
Mini Mayan exhibit :) Like really mini, these figures were about half a finger's length.
"I want my gum gum!" - Easter Island Moai
Last one before they chased everyone out.
This is an amazing museum filled with animals which were once alive, prehistoric specimens (hello dinos), an awesome space and aircraft exhibit, precious gemstones, culture and human civilization. Its alot to discover in there and its no surprise that it can take up an entire day. Definitely worth a visit!
